TTL ist ein Wert in [[dns|DNS]]-Einträgen, der angibt, wie lange (in Sekunden) eine [[dns-cache|gecachte]] Antwort gültig bleibt. Niedrigere TTLs sorgen für schnellere Weitergabe von DNS-Änderungen, erhöhen aber die Abfragelast auf [[authoritative-dns|autoritativen Servern]].
Beispiel
A TTL of 300 (5 minutes) means DNS changes propagate quickly; a TTL of 86400 (24 hours) reduces server load but delays updates.
