TTL là giá trị trong bản ghi [[dns|DNS]] chỉ định thời gian (tính bằng giây) mà phản hồi [[dns-cache|được lưu trong bộ nhớ đệm]] còn hiệu lực. TTL thấp hơn đảm bảo truyền bá nhanh hơn các thay đổi DNS nhưng tăng tải truy vấn trên [[authoritative-dns|máy chủ có thẩm quyền]].
Ví dụ
A TTL of 300 (5 minutes) means DNS changes propagate quickly; a TTL of 86400 (24 hours) reduces server load but delays updates.
