Um registro RRSIG (Resource Record Signature) (RFC 4034) contém a assinatura criptográfica sobre um conjunto de registros [[dns|DNS]], permitindo a validação [[dnssec|DNSSEC]]. Para cada tipo de registro em uma zona assinada (A, MX, AAAA, etc.), um RRSIG correspondente é gerado usando a chave privada da zona. Os [[dns-resolver|resolvers]] de validação verificam o RRSIG contra o [[dnskey-record|DNSKEY]] da zona para confirmar que os registros não foram adulterados em trânsito. Registros RRSIG têm data de expiração e devem ser atualizados periodicamente.
Exemplo
An RRSIG on the A record for example.com proves the IP address was signed by the zone owner's private key; tampering with the IP would invalidate the signature and cause resolution failure.
