CNAME-запись (каноническое имя) создаёт псевдоним одного доменного имени для другого. Вместо того чтобы указывать на IP-адрес, как [[a-record|A-запись]], CNAME указывает на другое доменное имя, которое в свою очередь преобразуется в IP-адрес.
Пример
A CNAME record pointing www.example.com to example.com means both addresses reach the same server.
