Um registro CNAME (Nome Canônico) cria um alias de um nome de domínio para outro. Em vez de apontar para um endereço IP como um [[a-record|registro A]], um CNAME aponta para um nome de domínio diferente, que então resolve para um endereço IP.
Exemplo
A CNAME record pointing www.example.com to example.com means both addresses reach the same server.
