Bản ghi CNAME (Tên Chuẩn) tạo một bí danh từ tên miền này sang tên miền khác. Thay vì trỏ đến địa chỉ IP như [[a-record|bản ghi A]], CNAME trỏ đến một tên miền khác, tên miền đó sau đó mới được phân giải thành địa chỉ IP.
Ví dụ
A CNAME record pointing www.example.com to example.com means both addresses reach the same server.
