Uma Solicitação de Comentários (RFC) é um documento formal publicado pelo Grupo de Trabalho de Engenharia da Internet (IETF) que define padrões de internet, protocolos e melhores práticas. Apesar do nome informal, os RFC finalizados são padrões técnicos autoritativos — quase todos os protocolos fundamentais da internet, incluindo [[dns|DNS]] (RFC 1034/1035), [[epp|EPP]] (RFC 5730) e [[whois-protocol|WHOIS]] (RFC 3912), são definidos por RFC.
