OpenNIC é um projeto de [[alternative-roots|raiz DNS alternativa]] operado por voluntários que oferece um conjunto de TLDs não-ICANN junto com o espaço de nomes ICANN padrão. OpenNIC resolve todos os [[tld|TLDs]] convencionais enquanto também serve extensões mantidas pela comunidade como .geek, .free, .indy, .fur, .parody e .pirate.
