Wildcard DNS record ใช้เครื่องหมายดอกจัน (*) เพื่อจับคู่กับ [[subdomain|ซับโดเมน]] ใดก็ตามที่ไม่มีรายการระบุไว้อย่างชัดเจน ทำให้ซับโดเมนที่ไม่ได้กำหนดทั้งหมดแก้ไขไปยัง IP address หรือเป้าหมายเดียวกัน
