Punycode ist eine Kodierungssyntax, die [[idn|internationalisierte Domainnamen]] mit Unicode-Zeichen in ASCII-kompatible Zeichenketten umwandelt, die mit 'xn--' beginnen. Dies ermöglicht dem [[dns|DNS]], das nur ASCII unterstützt, nicht-lateinische Domainnamen zu verarbeiten.
