Обратный DNS-запрос сопоставляет [[ip-address|IP-адрес]] с доменным именем с помощью PTR-записей. Это противоположность стандартного [[dns|DNS]]-запроса. Обратный DNS широко используется для верификации почтовых серверов — многие почтовые серверы отклоняют сообщения с IP-адресов без действительных PTR-записей.
