Um servidor DNS autoritativo contém os registros [[dns|DNS]] originais e definitivos para uma zona. Ao contrário dos [[dns-resolver|resolvers]] recursivos que consultam outros servidores, os servidores autoritativos fornecem respostas finais porque são a fonte de verdade para os registros de um domínio.
