Multipath DNS, paling umum diimplementasikan sebagai mDNS (Multicast DNS, RFC 6762), memungkinkan perangkat di jaringan lokal untuk menemukan dan menyelesaikan nama host tanpa server [[dns|DNS]] terpusat dengan menyiarkan kueri ke semua perangkat di subnet lokal. Contoh
When you print to printer.local on a Mac, Bonjour uses mDNS to broadcast a query over the local network. The printer responds with its IP address, and the Mac connects — no DNS server required.
