Un gTLD (domaine de premier niveau générique) est un [[tld|TLD]] de trois caractères ou plus qui n'est pas associé à un pays spécifique. Les gTLD historiques comprennent .com, .net et .org. Depuis 2012, le Programme de nouveaux gTLD de l'ICANN a introduit plus de 1 200 nouveaux gTLD comme .app, .dev et .shop.
