Un gTLD (dominio de nivel superior genérico) es un [[tld|TLD]] de tres o más caracteres que no está asociado a un país específico. Los gTLD heredados incluyen .com, .net y .org. Desde 2012, el Programa de Nuevos gTLD de ICANN ha introducido más de 1.200 nuevos gTLD como .app, .dev y .shop.
