A segmentação geográfica por domínio é a prática de usar a estrutura de domínio — tipicamente [[cctld|ccTLDs]] ou subdomínios/subdiretórios com [[hreflang|tags hreflang]] — para sinalizar aos mecanismos de busca o país ou região alvo do site. O Google reconhece explicitamente os [[cctld|ccTLDs]] (por exemplo, .de, .fr, .jp) como fortes sinais de segmentação geográfica e os classificará preferencialmente em seus respectivos resultados de busca nacionais. Os [[gtld|gTLDs]] genéricos como .com podem ser segmentados geograficamente via configurações do Google Search Console, mas os ccTLDs fornecem o sinal automático mais forte sem configuração adicional.
