La segmentación geográfica por dominio es la práctica de usar la estructura del dominio — típicamente [[cctld|ccTLDs]] o subdominios/subdirectorios con [[hreflang|etiquetas hreflang]] — para señalar a los motores de búsqueda el país o región objetivo del sitio. Google reconoce explícitamente los [[cctld|ccTLDs]] (p. ej., .de, .fr, .jp) como fuertes señales de segmentación geográfica y los clasificará preferentemente en sus respectivos resultados de búsqueda nacionales. Los [[gtld|gTLDs]] genéricos como .com pueden segmentarse geográficamente mediante la configuración de Google Search Console, pero los ccTLDs proporcionan la señal automática más fuerte sin configuración adicional.
