gTLD (Generic Top-Level Domain)
A gTLD (generic top-level domain) is a [[tld|TLD]] with three or more characters that is not associated with a specific country. Legacy gTLDs include .com, .net, and .org. Since 2012, ICANN's New gTLD Program has introduced over 1,200 new gTLDs like .app, .dev, and .shop.
