A domain appraisal is a professional or algorithmic estimate of a domain name's fair market value, distinct from its actual transaction price. Appraisal tools use comparable sales databases, keyword search volume, domain length, [[tld|TLD]] desirability, and brandability scores to generate estimates. Automated appraisals (GoDaddy GoValue, Estibot) can vary widely from actual [[aftermarket-premium|aftermarket]] transaction prices, and human broker opinions often carry more weight for high-value names.
Example
An automated appraisal might value 'cloudpay.io' at $4,800, but a broker familiar with fintech acquisitions might estimate $15,000–25,000 based on recent comparable sales.
