A domain alert is an automated notification sent to a domain owner or administrator when a predefined event or threshold is reached. Common triggers include impending expiration (typically 60, 30, and 7 days out), [[whois-monitoring|WHOIS record changes]], [[nameserver|nameserver]] modifications, SSL certificate expiry, and [[domain-status-codes|status code]] transitions such as entering [[client-hold|clientHold]]. Alerts are delivered via email, SMS, or webhook to a monitoring platform, providing an early-warning system that helps administrators take corrective action before a domain lapses, transfers unexpectedly, or is flagged by a registry.
Example
Your [[registrar|registrar]] sends a domain alert 30 days before example.com expires, giving you time to update your payment method and renew before the grace period begins.
