IDNA es el marco técnico que define cómo se procesan los [[idn|nombres de dominio internacionalizados]] en aplicaciones y protocolos. El estándar actual, IDNA 2008 (RFC 5891-5894), especifica cómo se validan, normalizan y convierten las etiquetas Unicode al formato ACE de [[punycode|Punycode]] (xn--). IDNA 2008 endureció las reglas respecto a su predecesor, restringiendo caracteres como guiones y símbolos que IDNA 2003 permitía, mejorando la coherencia entre diferentes idiomas y scripts.
