GDPR & Domain Privacy
The EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) significantly impacted [[whois|WHOIS]] data availability since 2018. [[registrar|Registrars]] now redact personal data from public WHOIS results for registrants in GDPR jurisdictions.
Example
Since GDPR, a WHOIS lookup on a .com domain registered in Europe shows 'REDACTED FOR PRIVACY' instead of the owner's name and address.
