TLD tổng quát hạn chế là danh mục con của [[gtld|gTLD]] kế thừa dành cho mục đích cụ thể nhưng không phải là [[stld|TLD được bảo trợ]] chính thức có tổ chức cộng đồng quản lý. Ba TLD tổng quát hạn chế cổ điển là .biz (dành cho kinh doanh), .name (dành cho cá nhân) và .pro (dành cho chuyên gia có giấy phép).
