Vùng DNS là một phân vùng quản trị của không gian tên [[dns|DNS]] được quản lý bởi một [[authoritative-dns|authoritative server]] duy nhất hoặc nhóm máy chủ phối hợp. Vùng không giống với tên miền: chủ sở hữu tên miền có thể chia không gian tên của mình thành nhiều vùng bằng [[dns-delegation|ủy quyền]], hoặc một vùng có thể bao gồm nhiều tên miền. Mỗi vùng được mô tả bằng [[zone-file|tệp vùng]] bắt đầu bằng [[soa-record|bản ghi SOA]] bắt buộc và chứa tất cả các bản ghi DNS mà authoritative server chịu trách nhiệm trả lời.
