Máy chủ gốc DNS là các [[nameserver|nameserver]] cấp cao nhất trong cấu trúc phân cấp [[dns|DNS]], chịu trách nhiệm trả lời các truy vấn về vị trí của các [[tld|TLD]] nameserver. Có 13 địa chỉ máy chủ gốc logic (ký hiệu từ A đến M), mỗi địa chỉ do một tổ chức khác nhau vận hành và có thể truy cập từ hàng trăm vị trí vật lý trên toàn thế giới qua định tuyến [[anycast|anycast]].
