WHOIS privacy (also called domain privacy or proxy registration) is a service that replaces a domain [[registrant|registrant's]] personal information in the [[whois|WHOIS]] database with the details of a proxy service provider, protecting against spam and identity theft.
Example
With WHOIS privacy enabled, your name and address in WHOIS records are replaced with 'Privacy Protection Service' and a forwarding email.
