An SRV (Service) record is a [[dns|DNS]] record that specifies the location (hostname and port) of specific services like VoIP, instant messaging, or LDAP. SRV records include priority and weight fields for load distribution.
Example
An SRV record for _sip._tcp.example.com tells VoIP clients to connect to sipserver.example.com on port 5060.
