Le séquestre de données consiste à déposer des copies des données d'enregistrement de noms de domaine auprès d'un tiers de confiance. L'[[icann|ICANN]] exige que les [[registrar|bureaux d'enregistrement]] et les [[registry-operator|opérateurs de registre]] maintiennent un séquestre de données comme sauvegarde en cas de défaillance commerciale.
