Un TLD communautaire est un [[new-gtld|nouveau gTLD]] ou un [[stld|TLD parrainé]] conçu pour servir une communauté d'intérêt spécifique et bien définie plutôt que le grand public. Les candidats communautaires bénéficient d'une notation d'évaluation préférentielle dans le processus de nouveau gTLD de l'[[icann|ICANN]] en échange de la démonstration d'un soutien communautaire authentique, de l'imposition de restrictions d'éligibilité aux registrants et de la mise en œuvre de politiques adaptées aux besoins de la communauté. Cela distingue les TLDs communautaires des gTLDs commerciaux standard ouverts à tout opérateur.

.coop (cooperative businesses), .museum (accredited museums), .aero (aviation industry), and .catholic (Catholic organizations) are community TLDs with defined membership criteria.
