AXFR (Truyền Zone có thẩm quyền, RFC 5936) là giao thức truyền bản sao đầy đủ của [[zone-file|zone DNS]] từ [[nameserver|nameserver]] chính sang nameserver phụ. IXFR (Truyền Zone tăng dần, RFC 1995) chỉ truyền các thay đổi kể từ lần đồng bộ hóa cuối cùng, giảm băng thông. Việc truyền zone phải được bảo mật bằng [[tsig|TSIG]] hoặc danh sách cho phép IP, vì AXFR mở sẽ phơi bày toàn bộ kho DNS record cho bất kỳ người yêu cầu nào — một lỗ hổng tiết lộ thông tin phổ biến.

Running `dig AXFR example.com @ns1.example.com` requests a full zone transfer — if the server is misconfigured, it returns every DNS record in the zone, exposing infrastructure details.
