PTR (İşaretçi) kaydı, bir [[ip-address|IP adresini]] ana bilgisayar adına eşler ve ters DNS sorgularını mümkün kılar — [[a-record|A kaydı]] veya [[aaaa-record|AAAA kaydı]] sorgusunun tersidir. PTR kayıtları, IP oktetlerinin veya nibble'larının ters sırayla yazıldığı in-addr.arpa (IPv4) ve ip6.arpa (IPv6) alanları altındaki özel ters arama bölgelerinde bulunur. Posta sunucuları PTR kayıtlarını temel bir spam karşıtı sinyal olarak kullanır: eşleşen PTR kaydı olmayan veya PTR'si aynı IP'ye ileri doğru teyit etmeyen gönderen IP'ler, spam filtreleri tarafından sıkça reddedilir.
