Restricted TLD

A restricted TLD is a [[tld|top-level domain]] that limits who can register domain names under it. Restrictions may require specific credentials, geographic location, or organizational status. Both [[stld|sponsored TLDs]] and some [[cctld|ccTLDs]] impose restrictions.

Example

.bank requires verification as a chartered banking institution, .edu requires US accredited institution status, and .gov is restricted to US government entities.
