اصطياد النطاق الساقط (المعروف أيضاً بـ drop-catching أو snap) هو عملية تسجيل اسم نطاق سبق امتلاكه في اللحظة التي يدخل فيها «السقوط» — النافذة الوجيزة بعد انتهاء [[redemption-grace-period|فترة سماح الاسترداد]] وإعادة السجل الاسم إلى مجموعة النطاقات المتاحة. ونظراً لاستقطاب النطاقات المنتهية ذات القيمة العالية مزايدين متعددين في وقت واحد، تُقدِّم خدمات متخصصة كـSnapNames وDropCatch آلاف طلبات التسجيل في الثانية لزيادة احتمال الاصطياد. حين تصطاد عدة خدمات السقوط نفسه، يُطرح النطاق عادةً للمزايدة بين حاملي الطلبات المسبقة المتنافسين.
