ClientHold وserverHold هما [[domain-status-codes|رمزا حالة EPP]] اللذان يتسببان في إزالة سجلات DNS للنطاق من منطقة السجل، مما يجعل النطاق فعلياً غير متاح حتى لو ظلّ تسجيله نشطاً. يُعيَّن ClientHold من قِبل [[registrar|المسجّل]] الراعي—عادةً بسبب عدم السداد أو تقارير الإساءة أو التجميد القانوني—ويمكن رفعه بمجرد حل المشكلة الأساسية. أما ServerHold فيُوضَع من السجل نفسه استجابةً لإجراءات الامتثال في ICANN أو أوامر المحاكم أو انتهاكات سياسات السجل، ويستلزم التواصل المباشر مع السجل لرفعه. يظهر كلا الوضعين في عمليات بحث WHOIS وسيتسبب في أخطاء عدم إمكانية حل النطاق بصرف النظر عن إعدادات DNS.
