Domain Inventory

A domain inventory is a structured, up-to-date record of every domain an organization owns, tracking key attributes such as registrar, registration date, expiration date, [[nameserver|nameserver]] assignments, business purpose, cost center, and renewal status. Inventories are maintained in spreadsheets, dedicated [[domain-portfolio-tool|portfolio management tools]], or integrated into IT asset management systems. An accurate inventory is the foundation of effective [[domain-audit|domain audits]], enables proactive [[domain-expiry-alert|expiry alerting]], and ensures that critical brand-protection domains are never accidentally dropped due to oversight. For large enterprises, domain inventories often number in the thousands and span multiple registrars and [[domain-dashboard|dashboards]].

Example

A Fortune 500 company maintains a 2,000-row domain inventory in a portfolio management platform, tagging each domain with the owning business unit and flagging those expiring within 90 days for review.
