NFT Domain
An NFT domain is a [[blockchain-domain|blockchain domain]] represented as a non-fungible token (NFT) on a smart contract platform. Because ownership is encoded on-chain rather than in a centralized registrar database, NFT domains can be bought, sold, and transferred peer-to-peer through standard NFT marketplaces without requiring approval from a registrar. Owning an NFT domain grants the holder complete control — the domain cannot be revoked, suspended, or expired as long as the owner controls the private key of the holding wallet.
Example
An investor purchases rare.crypto on OpenSea as an NFT, holds it in their MetaMask wallet, and later resells it at auction without involving any registrar or registry operator.
