Registration Fee
The registration fee is the upfront cost to register a domain name for an initial period. Introductory pricing is often lower than the [[renewal-fee|renewal fee]], a practice known as 'first-year discounting.'
Example
A .com domain might cost $8.99 for the first year of registration but $14.99/year upon renewal.
