Introductory Pricing
Introductory pricing is a heavily discounted first-year [[registration-fee|registration fee]] offered by [[registrar|registrars]] to attract new customers, often 50–95% below the standard rate. The business model relies on the high rate of auto-renewal: once a registrant is established at a registrar, they tend to remain and pay the full [[renewal-fee|renewal price]] in subsequent years. Introductory offers frequently exclude [[premium-domain|premium domains]], apply only to new registrations (not transfers), and are often limited to one domain per customer.
Example
GoDaddy advertises .com for $0.01 for the first year, but the renewal price is $21.99 — always calculate the true multi-year cost before registering.
