Email Alias
An email alias is an additional address that routes incoming messages to an existing mailbox without creating a separate account. For example, [email protected] and [email protected] can both be aliases that deliver to a single [email protected] mailbox. Unlike [[catch-all-email|catch-all addresses]], aliases are explicitly defined and do not accept arbitrary addresses. Aliases differ from [[email-forwarding|email forwarding]] in that they are native to the [[email-hosting|email host]] and typically allow the recipient to reply from the alias address without exposing the underlying mailbox.
Example
A founder sets up billing@, support@, and press@ as aliases all pointing to their primary inbox, then replies from the correct alias address to maintain professional separation without managing multiple accounts.
