Canada's .ca domain is managed by the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) and has over 3 million active registrations. CIRA requires registrants to meet Canadian Presence Requirements тАФ either Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or a registered Canadian business. This restriction has maintained the .ca domain's strong association with Canadian identity. CIRA reinvests registry revenue into community internet projects and operates a free DNS firewall service, Canadian Shield, protecting millions of Canadians from malware and phishing.
