Domain Aging

Domain aging is the strategy of holding a domain name over an extended period to increase its perceived or actual value through accumulated history. Older domains may carry residual [[domain-authority|domain authority]], indexed backlinks, and a longer [[whois]] creation date — signals that can make a domain more credible to both end-user buyers and search engines. Investors who pursue aging typically acquire domains with existing link profiles via [[expired-domain-auction|expired auctions]], park them to generate minimal revenue, and list them at premium prices after several years of seasoning.

Example

An investor buys a 12-year-old expired domain with 80 referring domains for $900 at auction, parks it for two years, then sells it for $6,500 to a startup that values the domain's age and link equity.
