موزع أسماء النطاقات هو شركة أو فرد يبيع تسجيلات أسماء النطاقات نيابةً عن [[registrar|مسجّل]] معتمد من ICANN دون امتلاك [[registrar-accreditation|اعتماد]] خاص به. يحصل الموزعون على أسعار الجملة والوصول إلى واجهات برمجة التطبيقات للمسجّل (عادةً [[epp|EPP]])، ويقدمون الخدمة تحت علامتهم التجارية مع إدارة الفوترة والدعم، بينما يحتفظ المسجّل الأساسي بالعلاقة التعاقدية مع [[icann|ICANN]] و[[registry-operator|سجل النطاقات]]. في حال إفلاس الموزع، يظل المسجّل الراعي مسؤولاً قانونياً عن الحفاظ على [[data-escrow|ضمان البيانات]] ودقة [[whois|WHOIS]].
